LPM 2026
Four days of audiovisual experimentation, improvised encounters and creative chaos. From October 22–25, the 27th edition of LPM – Live Performers Meeting brought artists from around the world to Rome’s Media Art Museum (MAM) and Brancaleone. Representing das Shining, Timo Dufner and Tschänz contributed three distinct audiovisual performances in the new immersive room.
With KLONK, timodufner explored generative minimalism, polyrhythmic structures and glitch aesthetics. Electronic sounds, algorithms and real-time visuals formed an evolving audiovisual system somewhere between composition, improvisation and controlled accidents.
For In trouble times, some new shapes could emerge from the ruins, timodufner joined forces with Katia Vonna Beltran. Analogue synthesis met experimental low-tech live cinema, transforming found objects, recycled materials and shifting electronic textures into an improvised dialogue between sound and image.
Meanwhile, Tschänz and robinrabauke presented From the Dunja, exploring techno as a driving force for artificial life. An audio-reactive Physarum simulation transformed musical structures into evolving organic patterns, blurring the boundaries between biological behaviour, mathematics and audiovisual art.
But LPM was never just about the scheduled performances.
Beyond our own contributions, we became involved in several other projects. Tschänz, in particular, spent considerable time supporting fellow artists with technical challenges, while timodufner stepped in musically when scheduled performers were unable to appear.
These spontaneous collaborations captured what makes LPM special: a community where knowledge, equipment and creativity are shared, where unexpected situations become opportunities, and where experimentation continues well beyond the official programme.
We came with three performances and left with considerably more experiences, connections and inspiration.
Thanks to the LPM team and everyone who shared their ideas, sounds, images and time with us. See you next time!
